Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
Many mics need power. Usually 48v phantom power is supplied by video cameras via XLR cable to the microphone. RED's phantom power introduces too much noise to be usable so the mic needs to get power from somewhere else.
A field mixer which allows for more functionality like level knobs, limiters etc. would be another solution. Finally, a field recorder to record sound off camera would be a typical movie shoot solution. Since RED gets shot that way a lot I don't think many have complained about on board phantom power not working. But it's a bit of an annoyance for anyone used to a video workflow.
