  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Soft, Noisy and lots of Artifacts

Which image did you pull this off of? I looked at the "wide_3to1.jpg" and didnt see it. Hrmmm. Id like to find the original image so I can send it to Red. Sent the camera in for RMA today. They say 3-5 days to evaluate it and then they will service it or send me another one. May not have a camera again until June 4th! crazy. 2.5 weeks lost to a bad camera and Im supposed to be shooting days later. I dont want this one back and this is just one more reason why.

Hey Michael,
It is visible in all 3 of the jpegs when you zoom into the image. I'd send RED the links to these 3 images as well as an R3D grab of each of these shots so they can take a look.

Hey Michael,

Maybe it's time to storm the castle. Are you anywhere near L.A.?

Wish I was near LA. Not anymore. Moved away 3 years ago.

After selling me a $12k defective camera body they want to take 3-5 days repair it and send the repaired defective camera back to me. I did not pay $12k for a "fixer-upper." After asking them twice to simply send me a new working camera to replace the one I bought (for efficiency, effectiveness and speed), they offered a loaner. This is absolutely crazy. I'd never get this kind of low ball treatment from Sony or Canon or Best Buy for that matter. You end up with a defective item and they swap it out with a new one immediately. They don't say, "well, let me stew over this for a week and send you the defective item back with some band-aids on it." Nevermind the production schedule and the fact I've lost two weeks of my prep time. No kidding, I've heard the phrase "I'll get back to you within the hour" three times and I never hear from them again. Each time I ended up calling back after about 4-6 hours.

Two thumbs down for Red support. If you don't have a working camera you're sunk.

Michael - I tried to get a list of the things RED checks before shipping, but ... that's not available to 'end-users' for some strange reason?

Of course I do get a checked list of lots of tests when I have my oil changed for less than $50, so ... kind of makes you wonder what goes on during the 7 hours or so each RED camera is powered on before they ship?

Did you come through this ordeal with a clear set of steps that you will perform on your 'new' camera when it arrives?

As I'm just getting familiar with my camera, I'd really like to compile a list of things I can test (and how to perform each test), for tests that may or may not have been performed at the factory.

BTW - sorry about your frustrating experience.

Michael, whatever happened with your Scarlet? Has the issue been resolved, and if so, how?
Please share the outcome, that's the main point of any forum, share the results and outcomes with the other users so everyone get's a bit wiser.
