Provides much better picture quality than any RED camera out there, no wonder this camera was four times more than the best RED camera
I think what has happened is that the digital camera market has come to resemble the used computer market. I'm sure there's thousands of us here who bought fully-loaded computers for $5000-$6000, only to have them worth maybe a grand five years later. Crap happens. Most digital cameras are really just a computer with a lens on the front, so it'd figure that Moore's Law would dictate the cameras could lose 80% of their value in 5 years. It's not a Red problem: it's a technology problem. The current $8500-$9500 range for F35 bodies w/ PL mount will fall to half that again once the F55 starts shipping. Such is the way with any advanced technology, computers, etc.. If you're buying it with "resale" value in mind, you're buying for the wrong reason(s).
Although Mac Pros do seem to hold their value for a while. I've been poking around to see what I can buy a 2010 Mac Pro for and the prices are still fairly high, probably in large part because the 2012 machines were not a huge boost. But even the 2009s are holding their value fairly well.I think what has happened is that the digital camera market has come to resemble the used computer market. At least generally accessories like tripods, lenses, microphones, lights, and related gear tend to hold their value a lot longer.
