A film that I worked on as part of the camera dept, Snow & Ashes, won best cinematography at this year's Genie Awards (Canada's annual national cinema awards gala).

Kudos to DOP Jean Francois Lord for his fantastic work on the picture. Half of the film was shot on super-16mm (with particular attention being paid to getting it grainy and grungy), and the other half on RED MX. Turns out it was a fantastic pairing, as each medium really helped give a unique dichotomy to the look of the picture. The MX footage is clean and vibrant and stunning. JF has nothing but great things to say about the RED One.

Thanks to everyone at RED for your hard work on these camera systems. You've given us some fantastic tools to work with. JF's currently off in New York with our Epic giving it some much needed hands-on time, and his response thus far has been nothing short of ecstatic. Can't wait to see what he'll be doing with that badboy.

Check out the trailer below to see some images from Snow & Ashes (trying to find an HD copy, sorry about the quality of the trailer!)
