SMPTE Expo - 4K/UHDTV Symposium - Monday 21st Oct

If you’re in Los Angeles next week and you have any interest in current developments in 4K/UHDTV technologies you might want to drop by the annual SMPTE Conference … as well as the traditional broadcasting topics being discussed during the course of the main Technical Conference there’s a special 4K/UHDTV Symposium being organized for Monday October 21st. A technical and business track will run during the day with lots of cool demos and 4K footage being shown in different delivery formats.

It’s still early days for 4K/UHDTV delivery into the home but SMPTE members plus the vendor community are starting to take it seriously. More details on the 'Next Generation Imaging Formats; More, Faster, and Better Pixels’ Symposium are available here:

We’ll have a small booth in the main Expo Hall (Booth #108) where we’ll be demonstrating our cost-effective 4K workflow built around Apple’s FCP X and Blackmagic’s DaVinci Resolve 10 plus we’ll also have some 6K footage from the new RED DRAGON camera for those interested in what’s coming after 4K. By leveraging the raw processing power of the significantly improved Red Rocket-X card we're able to get real-time playback in Resolve 10 with FULL debayering of the 6K DRAGON .r3ds. All that on a standard 12 core Mac Pro - quite amazing when you think about it. And once the next generation of Apple hardware and software arrives we’re going to see Moore’s Law really crank up the handle on the efficient processing of 4K and 6K RAW digital files.

Quick question:

Are you using the Seiki SE50UY04 in these sessions, and if so,
would you say you can directly see the benefit from the Dragon grading with this monitor
in Rec. 2020 space?
