  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SMALLRIG CAGES AND ACCESSORIES

I've been using Smallrig stuff since my Scarlet-MX and they are brilliant for the price.

Now that Wooden Camera isn't inexpensive (unless compared to Arri AKS) anymore Smallrig is the next best bet.

Their stuff is solid and it just works...
 
Thanks Sean, been looking for a "reasonably" priced baseplate for months.
 
Yep just got their top plate and nato handle - really good and solid and very affordable, honestly same build as WC but way cheaper! I'll be getting more from them
 
So glad to see this here. About to outfit my camera and Wooden Camera seemed pretty expensive for what it is. Thanks!
 
i just wanted to chime in because i use products from both wooden camera and smallrig for years.
You can't beat smallrig for the price. nothing comes close and i still use plenty of it.
however the machinese quality is way better on the wooden camera.
Some times the corners, thread pitch, and holes don't line up perfectly on the small rig stuff.
also the small rig stuff is painted and the color does come off and flake after a while.
But it's great for what it is.

I'd agree. The Small Rig is cheap and pretty good quality however the alloy and overall finish is definitely better in the Wooden Camera products.
 
Glad to hear some nice things about SmallRig, so maybe you guys can suggest what to buy with confidence and what needs an improvement, I'm thinking of buying a lot of gear from SmallRig, but not sure about EVF support, think of buying not moving parts like base plates, top plate, side plate next to ssd, 19 mm base plate, nato handle, dovetail, rods.

Any info on this gear will help me to make a final decision.

Your magic arm from SmallRig ? If yes how does it feels compare to others? You mounted the WC monitor cable to side connection, not enough space on top?

No it was from somewhere else, can't recall what arm. Yes there is enough room on top, but I like having the screen out, makes for better form factor IMO
