  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SmallHD SideFinder EVF / 502 Monitor

The light leak and easy pop off is indeed annoying and needs fixed.
 
Just got off the phone with SmallHD. The rep I spoke with said "there's nothing that can really be done about the monitor reflection, because of the nature of the Sidefinder's design."

How is this a reasonable answer?
 
Well, maybe it's an honest answer, but they should have offered you something to help lessen the pain, a discount on something else or (doubt it would ever happen) a refund
 
Hi,

I'm wondering if you guys are having any trouble getting your Small HD monitores to demails as the main monitor and show the menu? I just got a 502 and can't for the life of me figure out why the menus won't show up. I want to control the camera with the side Handel but I need to see what I doing!

It's been some time now. Could some of you who have been battle-testing the sidefinder for a while give us some quick feedback and tips? It would be appreciated. Thanks

I personally haven't used one, though I know SmallHD released I believe both a firmware as well as hardware update (like Bob noted) for the sidefinder to fix issues people were having. Guessing you're looking to use it as an EVF? You may be better off going with a dedicated EVF as opposed to the 502. Wait for NAB...which is right around the corner.
 
I haven't used it much but SmallHD sent me the parts to fix the sidefinder issue. Overall monitor is great and Sidefinder seems practical - probably not a contender against a dedicated EVF bit pretty handy. I also got the sidefinder free! Thanks to some outdated promo still live on a local dealers website, so can't complain.
