I've had this SmallHD focus Pro 5" for a little bit now, and sometimes when I turn it on, the monitor seems to have a mind of its own and I have to on-off the monitor a few times for it to stop being wacky. It's very stressful while on set. The issue presents itself with or without the smart cable/camera control cable being plugged in. I use the monitor with my Komodo. Is anyone else having this issue?

Not sure what you mean by "wacky" is it acting as though you're giving it touch input (make sure screen is clean and clear of anything that could possibly touch it), or is the imaging dropping flickering etc. I have a white SE kit and it works well. I have noticed that whatever cooling solution they have it's probably inadequate as mine gets pretty hot after extended use, and seems like touch responses are a little slower when it does. I would make sure you have the latest firmware from their website and if it's still not working right shoot support an email.

Good luck

Hey thank you for replying.

It scrolls, jumps screens and acts as if someone is touching it when it’s not being touched.

I had the same thing with one of my Focus 5.5" OLED's(screen zooming, screen/page scrolling/jumping). SmallHD said that it is usually a cracked screen(mine must have been a micro crack, because there was absolutely nothing visible to the naked eye). Ended up costing me about $215 for parts and labor for the repair(mine was way out of warranty). Kinda sucked, because a brand new they only cost $299, BUT they were already discontinued and unavailable.

Static electricity may be the cause.
I solved this problem by putting a clear, inconspicuous anti-static sticker on the edge of the monitor.

I had the same problem with the SmallHD FOCUS7, but the anti-static stickers solved the problem.

I have the impression that SmallHD has many problems.

I’m having the same issue with my 5 inches and it’s getting worst and worst. It appears randomly and it’s impossible to shoot à long take.
It happens on a middle of a 40mn interview last week and I ended up framing through the Komodo screen.
I’m sending mine to support on Monday, it’s super frustrating.

Would you mind posting a picture of how you did it but also a link to the product you used please? Thanks in advance.
