  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SmallHD 702 + WC Director Monitor Cage + custom CAD/CNC fix

I recently received two kits from Nick for my two directors monitors. They are fantastic and make a flawed WC design bulletproof. The package arrived as others have described - professionally and safely packed, and the directions were simple to follow. The new parts attach to the monitor in three places (both sides and the bottom) which make it rigid, with no chance of slipping, twisting, or coming loose. Making the side wings a one piece design instead of two pieces that pivot is genius, and I'm really happy with the finished product. Directors and DP's can be hard on gear, and this modification makes your investment much safer for them to hold. I've attached a few pictures of my setup (702/Global Media Pro 65's (gold mount)/Teradek Sidekick) so you can see what it looks like in action. It is a really solid set-up, and I'm very happy with my purchase.

Hey Nick, I teach at a small school and I just bought the proaim for our 702 Lite. Had to do the locktite solution but not sure how long that will last with students using it. We have a fairly large 3d printer at the school. Do you think your design would work as-is with plastic instead of aluminum?

I wouldn't recommend it. The designed thickness could snap in PLA and the M3 threading holding the side plates could strip. I would hate to hear about your new monitor crashing to the ground with just the handles left in a student's hands. I have a final batch of 5 kits about to arrive so watch this space if you want one.

Putting a new order in. My machinist's prices have increased a bit for 2017, so the price is now $195 inc. domestic US shipping. Add another $20 to ship to Canada or $25 for international. So far I have interest from:

Arnaud Dumas (+1 bottom plate for dual monitor setup)
Simon Dadge
Dylan Trivette
Silivan Hettich
(Oliver Schillo)
(Bernardo Marentes)

If anyone else wants one, please let me know either below or via PM.
