We've been working in HDR video for a while now and believe that it’s the future of all video in general, but like most of you find it challenging that reference displays with HDR capabilities are few and far between, and extremely expensive.

We’ve been eyeing the latest generations of HDR production displays and wondering, as most of you probably have: can we use these for HDR grading? And if so, what are their limitations compared to the more powerful reference monitors like the Sony BVM-X300 we already have?

We’ve written an in-depth blog post analyzing the HDR grading features of the SmallHD 1703 P3X and the Atomos Sumo 19, and walking you through how we got them to be near picture-perfect HDR grading displays, in the sub $4,000 price point, and how you can too.

With this, we're also making available some of our internal HDR utility LUTs that we've been fine-tuning over the last two years, making converting from HDR to SDR and from SDR to HDR as simple as adding a LUT.

Here’s the link to our review:

And here's a link to our new web store where you can grab those LUTs:

Thanks for this awesome insight Jacob! Any chance have you tried testing other consumer level monitors like the benq PD3200U or the LG ultra fine series and see how they stack up?
