SLR Magic APO HyperPrime mini review

Hi Darren! What are your impressions now that you have all 4 lenses?

Well its great to finally have all four. It fits very nicely with the rest. However I haven't gotten much time with it as yet. I did use it for one pick up shot with my also brand new pocket 4k camera here https://www.instagram.com/p/BrKO_JygMOf/ . The A cam for that shoot was my Ursa mini pro with SLR magic APO lenses before I had the 32mm. I really wanted to try both the pocket 4k and the lens so I used it for the pick up shot instead of the Ursa mini pro. I don't have that footage but I will go into the post house and see it when i get some time . Just been busy with other shoots.

But from what I see on the monitors it matches really nicely with other lenses. I need some time with the lens though. I'm supposed be using the set on 2 upcoming shoots and I will have access to that footage.

Here's a very short clip Using the 32mm on the pocket 4k. It's not doing the lens justice as it's just idle footage (out of focus sometimes) I took on set of one of the PA's while my lighting team was setting up for a scene. I took the cam to this set because I shot a pick up shot for another commercial that day on this set up.

This was shot @asa 2500 wide open @T2.1 asa 2500 is very nice on this cam...the grain is very fine and film like. No speedbooster used for this.

Nice Darren. Happy to hear they all match well. Eager to hear your thoughts after you shoot with them more

Does anyone know if there's the potential for a SLR Magic PL to Fuji X-Mount adapter?

I just got my 32mm after 3 months on backorder! Love the focal length but wondering if anyone else is noticing a big difference in color matching the 4 lenses. I purchased my 25 and 50 used and bought the 85 new from B&H. I was aware from other posts that the 25mm skewed slightly greener, but also noticed the 85 looking more green as well. The 50 seemed like the odd man out with more of a magenta cast. But now that I've received the 32 it seems to match the 50 more than the others. I'm wondering if the difference just happens to be a QC issues with the copies I own, or if anyone else has noticed so much discrepancy.

Here's a link to a comp of 4 stills - all taken with the Fuji X-T3, standard gamma. 5600k, T2.8. Lit by an Aladdin 2x1 Flexlight at 5600k. As you can see, the 32 and 50 match pretty well, the 25 & 85 read greener, with the 25 looking warmer than the 85.

Which mount are you using for adapting to the XT-3? Do you like it?

Thanks for doing that John, I will try and do a test later this week too and post results as well. I'm still waiting on my 32mm, can I ask where you ordered yours from?

I ordered mine from B&H back in mid Sept. I tried reaching out to SLR Magic directly in July to order but never heard back.

just got the 32, I have them all now

First look is its super pretty, and has character, like all of them

Hi Guys, i also got my 32mm. But didn't used it yet.

But i made a small test with a friend and tried 3 50mm lenses.
SLR Magic APO, Contax Zeiss and Leica R.

I know it's not a perfect test and it would be better to compare T2.1 to F1.8 or F2.0 but i just realised it after :D

BTW,

I also posted this in the "Gemini 5K" forum in the "Thread: So is it true that the Gemini produces a soft picture? Do you regret not going to 8K?"
