  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Slow performance on fairly fast machine...

I'm using RedCine on a 2x2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro tower. When rendering to ProRes, it's rendering about a frame a second. Is this normal? Are my expectations of render speed too high? The computer has 8GB of RAM and the X1900 graphics card.

What kind of storadge do you use ?

Cheers

This computer is at home, so I'm using a G-Raid drive connected via FW800. This could be the bottleneck. The drive is plenty fast for FW800, but maybe not fast enough. My computer at work is hooked up to a Facilis Terrablock (very fast) - speed isn't an issue there, but I can't test RedCine on it because it's a G5. Curious as to what kind of times others are getting - few people have posted times like 10x realtime.

After we start to use very fast storadge ( above 1GB/sec) we shrink rendering time 3 to 4 times. We compare RAM expanding from 4 to 8Gb and result was not so impresive like with speed up the storadge. We will do some testing and let you know about results.
