  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

slow CUDA with GTX285 !?

one of the areas most often overlooked in PPro CS5 are its Cuda accelerated 32 bit color grading and correction tools. Though nowhere as robust and extensive as stand alone grading suites, it is actually very powerful for situations where you don't need tracking, or crazy power windowing effects etc (if and when you do you can always DL to AE). The tools are not implemented in the traditional sense. You will have to open the help files to learn the tools. You also need a three button track ball mouse with the curves and the wheels as mousing the gradient ranges is not as smooth as those in professional grading tools, you can easily get gnarly banded and clipped results. the tonal range tools for shadow, mids, and highs is really impressive.
If you have a gtx285, honestly try it out and see. You might even discover that it has a keyer similar but not as powerful as a the one in Colorista II.
I wish Adobe would put out some more documentation or information on this.
Oh and if you shoot some thing on a green screen with the red camera, premiere pro is one of the fastest real time playback tools for keying out the footage using the built in mecury/cuda ultra plugin.

I have only used these on red footage so results may vary.
