  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Slightly OT but...

haha, good on ye.

My 12-year old daughter was at a friend's house who had a 120hz TV and came home saying "I saw a version of Titanic that wasn't graded!"

Poor girl growing up in a tech house! :smilielol5:

I hate them so much. There were these two TVs playing from the same source in a shop I was in (it was one of the Lord of the Rings movies they were playing, can't remember which one), but one of them was a cheaper model (by about $800) without the ridiculous interpolation. The more expensive model just looked completely rubbish... I couldn't beleive that this both called a feature, and enabled by default...

Apart from the rubbish motion, I can often clearly see artefacting around moving edges, and moving objects can leave a trail that (unsurprisingly) looks very much like when you use way too much optical flow to slow something down. Another thing is that it changes the way noise looks - which for me was extremely distracting.

I think everyone notices it, they just convince themselves that it looks better.

I heard somebody saying something like "we saw the comparison in the credits and we were like, woah, not getting a 50Hz TV"... I seriously could not believe it - the sales people in a shop had actually convinced someone I know that this rubbish tech is better - based solely on some white text scrolling on a black background...

I really don't care that the credits of a movie or a news ticker looks smoother if the rest of the material I watch looks crap.
