Hi there,

I need a new tripod and head for my Scarlet (my rig is typically under 8lbs). I also need a slider, so am hoping to find a small one that can ideally be center-mounted on the new tripod.
For the tripod and head I’ve been thinking about a Manfrotto 509HD head with 536 legs.

For the slider, I’m considering the 3ft Kessler Cineslider (for other options I’d go smaller rather than larger than this), plus motor.

I’m wondering if this combination is possible/advisable, or what some better options might be? My budget is relatively flexible though I can’t go too far outside of this sort of range.

The crucial thing is that I have a tripod/head that allows for seamlessly smooth tracks/pans and a slider that is equally smooth. My next considerations are that these are as light and as cheap as possible.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'd think you'd need legs with spreaders for better stability. A 3' slider with a Scarlet at one end will more than likely tip over on its own on 536 legs.

I use a much shorter 20" slider on these legs with an Epic and a DV-1 Sachtler head and it works fine for me. Try and use a set of legs that spread wide, with leg spreaders, and find a light weight fluid head.
