  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Skyfall

I thought the lighting style and subject matter could have benefited from more resolution.

You know, I ended up seeing Skyfall maybe 3 times at a couple of different cinemas in between one of the showings I saw The Hobbit at 48fps in 3d and it never once occurred to me that the image was in any way shape or form lacking in resolution.

The script sucked, but agree it looked really great. So natural most of the time but still really beautiful, think that is deakins trademark :)

Seriously ?

I found skyfall crap/cheap (where they put all this money ?) in every way. Especially for the lights.

Just think and compare with a movie like The master or Anna Karenina or even District 9 (shot on the first red one).

;)

Please let us all know when your peers award you the ASC Award for Best Cinematography, or possibly the Academy Award for the same thing.

Everyone has a right to their opinion. You can say you didn't like it, but calling it "crap" or "cheap" is pretty laughable given the almost unanimous opinion of those in the industry who have the experience level, achievement level, and proven talent level to properly judge these things.

Funny, I was thinking the exact opposite when it was over.

I thought the lighting style and subject matter could have benefited from more resolution.

Please tell me you are being sarcastic....please...

+1

Normally I take the opposite position but the 'Lean' homage baddy reveal made bond look like he needed glasses..

Ps it may have been the cinema but it looked murky..

I thought it really looked great, regardless how are you? Hoping to use those UP on an upcoming feature.

Sorry Martin, but I REALLY don't care about awards winning or any other prizes when I try to see if a movie is interesting or not or if the DP is great.

If you think that, well, we should all have the same vision of what is great/or not great, only depending of who wins what...

Seriously, even an amazing director as Spielberg can make really bad movies, and so what ?

I gave some exemples such as The Master or District 9 or Anna Karenina, are for me amazing especially for the beautiful photography, and I was very surprised by all the awards the DP won for Skyfall...

I was thinking especially about the scene inside the Casino in Macao, everybody and everything are YELLOW/ORANGE.

it made me laugh when I saw this scene, really...

Indeed, I found the editing very bad too.

For me, it is one of the worst Bond I've seen, in every way. Some scenes are really ridiculous. Sorry for hurting you or people here.

I wasn't too wild about the storyline of Skyfall. But Valentin... what are you saying here? That everyone should always be lit by a perfect 5600K light source in every scene, even dark, indoor scenes that are trying to look like incandenscent lit scenes? If so, why even have a DP?
