100% board.

There's literally nothing like it. Snowboarding in fresh pow is the best feeling I have ever had (that is until I get my hands on a Scarlet).

Why not both? I do both, I tend to pick what I strap on my feet based on my mood at the base of the mountain and who I'm with. Often, I'll even change at lunch time...

But given a choice between the two, I would probably go for skis if I had to choose. I grew up on the, I'm better on them and for me they provide a bit more freedom to go interesting places. With the board, I spend too much time walking, hopping or sitting on my butt.

I skied from the early '70's until the late '80's when we started covering the emerging pro snowboard circuit for ESPN, Fox, etc. Once I snowboarded I never skied again. I grew up doing boardsports where one foot is in front of the other - surfing and skateboarding - thus it felt totally natural to me to snowboard with one foot in front of the other on the board - rather than front-facing feet on parallel boards (skiing).

I was part of the crew that covered for national television every alternative sport pro tour from 1983 to 2001. The cool thing about being on those crews was we'd always take along to the events our own boards (surfboards, skateboards, snowboards, etc.) and get our fun in before and after the event!

At 60 years old now I still own multiple surfboards, snowboards, and skateboards, and do all of them often. There's no age limit on having fun!

I ski from early 70's and snowboard from '84
... and from these two I choose surfboard as most amazing thing ever

hence I shaped my first (wake)surfboard this year and I was as stoked as when I built my first snowboard in 1984 with homemade binding :)
also enjoy wake, wakesurf and sk8

SKI!!!!!!!!! Like in my avator picture!!! If anyone comes up to Tahoe this winter, let me know I can get you some free lift tickets.

Started skiing in 1965, learned at a ski school run my my family on Mt Hood, OR.

Do this: get a monoski. Best of both worlds and really screws with both crowds!

100% with you on that, fresh powder in near complete silence sans the sound of a few other early risers carving that slope when the lifts open...

Excellent responses all! Been many years since I hit the slopes so I'm trying to decide what do do. Keep them coming!

wow, that's deep!

I still like the mono board idea.

both...but im sponsored for snowboarding....so board wins.....oh and i cant wait for scarlet so i can film overcranked footy!

Its easy do both. Bring board with you and rent ski or ...

Board. Skiing never appealed to me, but to each their own. We're all on the mountain to have a fun, and safe, time after all.

learned to ski at age six and still love it. I hate to admit I am a little behind on teaching my kids. Hopefully I will learn to board this year. I have been at this point, a die hard "two planker." boarding looks like a blast and I am always looking to expand my horizons.

If I do learn to board, I want one that is long and fast. I am a speed junkie.:cold:

Oh, then I have some advice for you because I'm a speed freak as well. Used to race (skis), downhill, slalom... Don't go for the racing boards to start out, start out short, freestyle board. Get the hang of it. I've been snowboarding for a few years now and still feel like I'm learning. Then again, since having kids, I'm lucky to hit the slopes more than 5 times a year.

...And I don't care how fast people think they can fly on a snowboard. It will never top skis for speed. :w00t:
