Does anybody have any suggestions for cheaply wrapping up an EPIC for a ski boat. I am shooting one shot on a ski boat where the camera is up in the bow, wide lens, shooting back at people in the boat and wake surfer behind the boat. There always is a little bit of a splash in the bow when hitting wakes. So, I need a way to cheaply quickly wrap up the camera with some plastic bag and not cover the vents..etc. Amy I crazy for trying this or has anybody else done this or have suggestions/pictures?

Thanks!!!

I film a lot on the boat. Get yourself a big rain jacket and wrap yourself up in it with the camera and just have the lens peering out. You can easily cut some plastic that will fit over the camera to keep any splash out too, just make sure you have venting of course.

Last thing, MAKE SURE you familiarize your self with what's going to happen when the rider falls, i.e. the boat is going to stop very quickly and you will fall if you don't anticipate the momentum.

I'm curious, what company are you shooting for? Or personal?

I have a couple pictures and videos of me in the past hanging on and off the boats. Fell off once... I'll see if I can dig them up.

Thanks AJ! It is personal. I would love to see a picture of you on a boat with rig!

There are tons of splash everywhere and from every direction, so take care. Everything is moving and slippery so you can easly fall off with camera while you are trying to get best angle. Ask driver to take care of you too and if he can drive more gently.

I mostly use Gopro but its messy codec is killing every single water droplet :( Hope their Pro firmware update will soon change it.

Slomo Epic footage will be awesome. Hope you will post it here.

My word of advice is to use a proper housing. You do not want your $40k camera nowhere near salt spray, moisture or end up in the water, which happens much more easily than you realise. I spent nearly 20 years on boats of various shapes and sizes and have seen my share of cameras and lenses destroyed.

Also, RED high tensile bolts and other hardware will rust even after only brief exposure to sea spray, even if you can't see it and in the calmest of conditions.
