Hi there. . .

This is probably a stupid question, but are there any single LED (that is, something composed of just ONE variable power LED) that can be easily wired for little sprinkles on a set? I'm looking primarily for 3200K or 2900K sources.

Again, I'm not looking for an LED fixture. I'm looking for a set of single, tiny LEDs to sprinkle on a set.

Thanks.

Stephen

Yes, but... you're not going to find them in the film lighting world.

Probably the best (cheapest) source of single-LED fixtures is the advertising specialty business. Check out a company near you. They have LED keychains, pens, pendants, etc. If they have samples, you can check them out for color temperature. They won't be dimmable, but they'll be dirt cheap.

The variable power requirement will take the unit cost from $2 to $100. OSRAM SYLVANIA makes LED strips that you can drive with dimmable power supplies, but to work with one led emitter would be an unusual (and therefore kind of DIY) application. But the technology is there to do it -- it's just that there's not much market for it, so it hasn't been developed commercially.

I use LED Flashlights for single led sources... you can get them dirt cheap. Downside is you don't get a specific temp or cri.
