I'm confused...custom machined Canon titanium mounts were going to be $2,000. Are the production models the same price? I understand Jim's comment that aluminum was nixed altogether.

+1 for ordering Epic-S before price increase. Update Please.

Blooming heck. All we have for EPIC-S is a 'target price' and spec which is a moving target. Until anything more official is announced there IS no EPIC-S 'price' to be subject to increase!

Remember the one thing that's been clear for a long time about S - it's not going on sale until all X orders in all stages are fulfilled. First X, *then* S. I wouldn't expect S orders to open until early next year - but that's just my wild guesstimate and is worth what you paid for it.

I guess what we are enquiring about then is whether the factors that have affected Epic-X pricing will affect the "target pricing" of Epic-S.

Indeed. I'm very curious about a potential Epic-S price increase. 12-13K was right in my budget for a brain, but if it's significantly higher that might price me out. :( I'm also curious if the prices will fall back to the original quotes once things in Japan get fully back to normal and supply chains get fully restored. Probably not, but it'd be nice.

I think RED's position as I understand it, is that when they know, they will tell people. I think they want to cut down on speculation or information not yet available. Hold tight. All good things come to those who wait. Cheers!

Thanks for the update, RED.

Lots to think about.

I would like to propose that RED starts a thread dedicated to the status and options of the future of the Battery system. (REDVolts, REDVolt XLs, Chargers, Modules, specs, pricing (when possible), etc.

THANKS AGAIN!

Jim / Jarred,

When can stage 4 people actually place their order?

I like Gibbys idea of making the the PL or EOS mount an option at time of order.

Thanks
Ben

Thank you kindly for that comprehensive update Jim...very generous, and the increases are understandable.

Question:

A significant number of DSMC camera owners/users who shoot hybrid, EFP, and stills will want to use Canon or Nikon lenses exclusively on Epic - at least until the Red Electronic Lenses and mount are ready. I'm one of those. A PL mount is basically useless to most of of us who shoot these styles, because we virtually never use PL mount cine lenses.

Could there somehow be an option when buying an Epic to simply select which mount we'd like as the "stock" mount on the new camera? That would be incredibly cool...even if there needs to be a differential payment to get the Canon or Nikon mount as the stock mount.

+1 on this option - would much prefer the Canon mount.

PS and that mount looks sweet!

I too am worried that a price increase is going to put me (and possibly most of would be buyers) out of the EPIC-S train.

I can afford around 12 K, around 17 K I cannot.

17K is the RED One crowd. I though the EPIC-S was geared at the upper AF100 crowd.

Hopefully there will also be a window to get one at a lower price.

If money is really tight, stop worrying and buy a Scarlet.

I don't mind having both the canon and pl mounts but at the risk of being a broken record I have to ask...is the redmotepro anywhere on the horizon? It's not on the pricing list. This for me is the killer item that will slay all other cameras and further democratize filmmaking.

Otherwise it all looks good to me! Looking forward to the fall!
