Tested one today on a Red Epic Dragon running v6.3.102, autofocus was okay but found that the optical image stabilization was not working.

Anyone get the OS to work?

Interesting. I was looking into buying this lens for event filming... but the Image Stabilization is something I was counting on working... hmm. Interested to know more.

Yeah me too. Tested it again with an Epic-W Helium and no luck.

Maybe it's just a question of waiting for Red to do a lens characterization in a future firmware update. Fingers crossed.

On a side note, I was hoping that the older Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC would work one day but some others have pointed out that their implementation of IS doesn't allow continuous stabilization, I hope that's not the case with this Sigma.

Josef, I didn't do anything scientific but to my eye it was as good as the 24-70L, won't be long before the reviews hit the internet though.

Just got the lens today. Will test on my Scarlet-W over the coming days.

The weird thing is the zoom ring is SO STIFF... not smooth at all like the canon.... plus the zoom ring is in the front and the focus ring in the rear.... so I keep grabbing the wrong ring to zoom.

It's the same way on the Sigma 24-105. If you're like me, you'll hate it for the first couple shoots, and then actually come to appreciate having the focus ring closer as it's easier to turn when going handheld.

Yeah, that's a good point. Still surprised how stiff the zoom ring is though. Is that your experience with the 24-105 as well? Does it loosen up a little over time?

Can the electronic aperture be controlled on the Epic-W ?????

Still using the epic-x and the lens OS works. So should be fixed in a firmware update. also aperture and focus are controllable. only thing is that is registers as a canon 24-70 II.

hopefully that eases people thoughts

So I tested the lens today on my Scarlet-W and it was pretty weird. At first the Lens worked fine and I was able to change the aperture etc. When I try to use the AF for follow focus work with the Foolcontrol app the AF motor doesn't work. Makes some crazy noise and don't change the focus.
After restarting the Camera and taking the lens off and on again the AF motor works perfect and I was able to control the whole thing with foolcontrol, BUT this time i wasn`t able to change the aperture. The third try was then again than like the first situation. So i was able to control aperture but AF motor was not working.
So what is positiv:
Both functions are working.
BUT in the actual firmware even if its beta (V6.4.24) both functions are not working simultaneously.
I hope this will be fixed soon.
I really like the lens. The Image quality is very nice the OS is working great and it is very solid built quality.

EDIT:
James it is very interesting that the Epic-x is working better with this lens. Gives me hope that a quick firmware update can fix this.

I don't find the 24-105 zoom ring to be stiff. Actually it's much easier for me to pull a slow zoom off with the Sigma than the Canon 24-70L II, on which the new copies "stick" when zooming until they break in. The problem with the 24-105 is that it's not remotely parfocal though, so you need to constantly re-focus when zooming. However, it doesn't lose exposure when zooming like the Canon 24-105 does.

I shoot with this lens on my Weapon bodies and haven't had any problem at all. I've used Optitron 2 to control focus. I have however had some trouble with the Optitron 2 disconnecting after a couple hours of shooting. It requires rebooting the cam body to get it up and going again. I don't believe this issue has anything to do with the lens its self. BTW the IQ of the 24-70 is quite nice and the bokeh is pretty.

Hi Mark,
I'm glad the OptiTron2 is working for you. The newest firmware release resolved some Control port connection issues AFAIK. You may want to try that...
