  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sigma Art 14mm /F1.8

I have been using this lens for a month now with my Epic-W, and I'm pretty happy with it. It's pretty consistent with other Sigma Art lenses. If you like Sigma Art lenses definitely go for it.

At 8K, it offers approximately an 18mm field of view.
At 6K, approximately 24mm.

Compared to Sigma Art 18-35, at 8K would have a field of view of approximately 28mm (at 22mm, no vignetting)
At 6K, approx. 31mm

I have been using this lens this week shooting real estate and I love the field of view, and its performance at night. I am also using it with my Sigma A7Rii for photos.

I haven't found a wider/faster lens. The lens only stops down to F/16. You can't screw on ND filters, but they have a "FHR-11 Rear Filter Holder" (More on this slow)

Previously, I was using the Sigma 12-24 F/4 zoom. I appreciated that lens, but the F/4 made it unusable in low light. I think it's better to have the faster lens over the zoom capability.

Having a faster lens has been helpful when shooting slow motion in 4K/120fps or 2K/300fps because you're using higher shutter speeds (1/600) and need to let more light in.

There are some minor pink dots that appear when direct sunlight hits it.

I recently went to Sigma's Service Center in Long Island to have them install a rear filter holder, the Sigma FHR-11, which lets you install ND filters behind the lens. However, I haven't actually been able to purchase the ND filters yet, and having trouble finding solid information on them. I went to B&H and they weren't really able to help me.

All in all, it's a quality lens !

I don't have any great examples of footage to show right this second, but hopefully I will be able to share some images soon.

Excellent, thanks for the notes on your experiences!

I have found a good price on it and will be purchasing one shortly, will try to shoot some example shots :)
