  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sigma 20mm f/1.4 coming

Yup, great announcement for sure, another more or less "odd" focal length in form of a good prime and with 1.4. They have my attention, especially since i was planning to get the 21 Milvus sooner or later (which is 2.8).

But on the other hand, i was hoping to see something like a 85/100/135 ART next...

I've been eyeing Nikon's 20mm f/1.8 and the Tamron 15-30mm for a bit, but have been waiting to see what the Sigma Art offering(s) in the ultra-wide range will be. If this matches the price/performance of the rest of the Art series, I'm in. The amount of FLD/SLD glass and maintaining the f/1.4 speed at such a wide angle make me think it's going to be a bit more expensive than the rest of the Art lineup, though.

Interesting that there is no filter size listed.

Does this sucker take filters or is it like the Nikon 14-24 2.8 etc?

Ah man... I drool over the thought of a cinevised Sigma lens set more and more each day!

But then a 20, 24, 35, 50 1.4 set on RAVEN with Optitron control might work very well on its own for a lot of things and be nicely future-proof!

But don't the sigma's breathe a lot? I am thinking this is a great price for photography lenses and subtle focus manipulation but to go all out on cinema housings seems a bit too much. What do you think. I am intrigued with this 20 though. Giving a FOV approx of full frame 35 on my Scarlet and with aperture of 1.4. That is exciting.

Soooo many awesome lenses for little indie / doc shooters!! Crazy times

In respect of wide angle lenses, (particularly zooms) indicated focal length is not necessarily an accurate indicator of a particular lens's angle of view.

Damn that's even wider than the Leica 21/1.4. Hopefully they fixed the border sharpness compared to the Sigma 24/1.4.

this was my exact thought and the first thing i look for, will my filters fit!?

Look at the front element, using filters might get problematic.

Yup, sure looks like it. No filters... hmmm

Did you guys know about the metal lens cap? (sold separately) Makes me wonder what the standard cap looks like.
Probably all because of the big front element

Weird choice to come out with the 20 when a 24 is already available but the long lenses are still nowhere near...

But this will be sweet for gimbal use if the 665g is not too much.
