Hi guys,

I want to buy Sigma 18-35mm still version for run and gun situations when I shoot alone.
Can you help me with two things regarding ND filters?

1) Is Sigma still version strong enough to hold clamp-on VIV mattebox from Bright Tangerine?
2) And do you have any experience with B+W XS-PRO 72mm ND filters?

Thank you guys for your help
Karel

Hi Karel,

I've been using that lens in run and gun situations for a few years - definitely one of my favorites and can be had dirt cheap.

1. Dunno If I would trust it to handle a clip-on mattebox - more for your EF mount on the camera suffering than just the lens itself - lots of leverage / pressure on all those parts

2. I used a variety of screw in NDs - you might want to try one of the Magnetic filter holder solutions for fast snap on and off of NDs - and maybe use 77mm ND off a 72-77 stepup ring - or if you have other Still camera lenses you're using from time to time, standardize to the largest diameter - like 82mm possibly.

Here are the magnetic filter holders I was talking about:

Hi Dan,

1) Thank you, I thought that. I didn't find any pictures of Sigma 18-35 with Mattebox attached apart fromBright Tangerine Misfit Atom. So I definitely won't try it with VIV and will use it with rod support

2) Didn't know that something like magnetic holder exists. And why you suggest 77mm with stepup ring? Because of vignetting? :) Or only because of compatibility with other lenses.

Thank you Dan much appreciated
