I'm in need for a side/top handle to attach to the RED camera so I can do handheld shots. I look on Red.com but they don't carry the RED Side/Top handle. Anyone know where I can find one? Thanks

Try looking for Wooden Camera top handles. I have a leather handle one and that is great for my grip. I don't like too much the all metal cheese plate handles (even though they are mounting points for whatever, it is too cold when working outside here in Norway.) A handle for me is a handle and nothing else. The rest of the top plate my rig is for dingies.

Agreed with Patrick.

I also have the Wooden Camera leather handle with one difference to the way many attach it to the camera. I mount the handle facing forward instead of the traditional mounting over the camera body.
Benefits include more closely matching the center of gravity once a lens is mounted and opening up the space on top of the body to mount aks.

Note: I also use the WC Top Plate that incorporates the wiring and connectors for both an EVF & LCD plus R-S.

Good products.

It depends on how I have my camera set up. But now, I have found a nice way that suits me and my style of shooting. Before I used this handle on my Scarlet and Epic like in pic 2.
Here is an example of the handle that I have on my Epic.
This shot is a BTS photo of my last advertising job (FYI).

But the handle is a great. You really need a top plate to get any benefit from using and rigging stuff to the cameras. If you want basic set up, side handle is a great option for forest missions, like this:

It just comes down to what you need it for and how you are using your camera. Often I love just having the side handle and the monitor and the body and a Redvolt (DSMC1) and shooting that way. If I need runtime, then a V-mount. If rigging and having more bits stuck on, then do what you have to do.

I stand with Wooden Camera ~ worth it in the long run.

Cheers.

thanks I will check out their handle. Great photos
