Guys,

Has anyone been recently having their side handles lose communication with the brain. For whatever reason maybe it's coincidence but both of our dragons are all of a sudden having this problem very frequently. You can even watch the top screen on the handle turning on and off. All connections are perfectly clean and one of hte dragons is a month old with a brand new side handle. Any help would be appreciated!

I have noticed this, but only once. It was when I updated the firmware to the newest (DC2) on my Scarlet Dragon. I wasn't able to hit the "okay, shutdown" button, and I had to take it off, and place back on to work again. Only firmware upgrade I had to do that for, but it hasn't done that since.

I am experiencing this a lot. I reboot and it usually starts to work again. Today it took three reboots to get it to work. It seems to happen more when it's cold outside.

If I recall, RED instructs you to remove the Side Handle when upgrading firmware. Was it left on the camera during the upgrade?

I'm not sure that's the case, since you can't finish the upgrade without the side handle to begin with (it forces you to click "upgrade complete, shutdown", even after manual shutdown / restarts, it just comes to that screen. I use a 3rd party monitor, not RED touch) So I do keep it on. Only the latest firmware had the "stopped working" issue when I upgraded.

Did you upgrade your firmware recently? Also, FYI, caps "means" yelling online, it's probably not necessary in thread titles

Well ain't this just bizarre. I don't have a Dragon, just a regular ole Scarlet MX and this happened to me for the very first time 3 days ago. It took me 2 reboots and a 2 reattachments to get it working again. Weird thing was that my redvolts still powered the camera, just the buttons didn't work. I haven't updated the firmware recently.

Same prob. Weird thing is we take it off and put a new one on and the same thing happens... which then says it might be the brain contacts.. Then a hour later they both work?
Odd. Doesn't happen much so I live with it.
best to ask RED.

Yeah that's the same here. It's totally random. One shoot they both disconnect constantly and then the next no problems. It's happening enough lately that I have started using the ssd record button as my primary so I don't miss anything thinking I'm recording when I am not.

I apologize for the all caps I am not currently up to date on internet cap or no cap protocols. I do the same on all my email subject titles so I guess it's a bad habit.

We had this happen on our Epic MX. We had to send it in to RED to get it fixed.
