Side handle unresponsive

Hey all. We have a customer that just bought a Scarlet from us. It fully passed our checks and was tested immediately prior to leaving but he's bought batteries for it and is now reporting that while the side handle is lighting up and the display is working, the buttons are all unresponsive.

We've seen some issues with the contacts getting dirty or the handle not being fully seated and the display not working. Is there a lock on the camera to lock out all button inputs or is this side handle experiencing an issue?

Pressing buttons 1 & 4 simultaneously will lock/unlock the side handle buttons. Perhaps try that.

Also unscrew it and put it back on (when its powered down of course)

So an odd update on this. We got the camera back from the customer and the RED handle is locked when there is no monitor attached to the side SSD. Attach a monitor and it works fine. Remove the monitor and the display stays on but the buttons don't do anything.

RED seemed to think it was normal for that firmware version and that an update would fix it.

Installing the newest Firmware or just reinstalling the actual one helps most of the time

That happened to me once. Updating the firmware fixed it. Unfortunately the jog wheel stopped working a few weeks later and I had to send it to RED for repair.

Yep, that caught me out for years !!!
