  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shuttle launches

You beat me to posting.

Really very interesting to get a little BTS on how the launch happens. It's amazing how many things all happen in the few critical seconds of liftoff.

I had the honor of shooting a shuttle launch as part of a film we made for Space Camp; I don't think there's a poet alive who can express the feeling.

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

Pretty sure I was the first to shoot a shuttle launch with a Redone - STS-122 with my SN206 using a zeiss contax yashica 300mm on the first prototype Birger canon mount and a eos-c/y adapter.

I'm On the iPad now but I'll post a frame later.

The scariest thing about that video was "with over one million moving parts..."

all built by the lowest bidder....

However, this is a badass video, really amazing. I'm sad that I won't get to see a shuttle launch ever, but I can't wait to see what NASA has in store for the future.

The Space Program is the only cause that I fully support, as it advances the human race the most, I only wish more people supported it.

all built by the lowest bidder....

Well, knowing what little I do of how some of the major military contractors work...they may get the lowest bid, but the project soon hits some "budget overruns" and everything turns out alright at the end.

Except for the poor team of under-stressed, over-medicated accountants who get twitches every time another $5,000 bolt needs to be redesigned.

It is really stunning to think about the concept of so much simple mechanical perfection working at cohesively. One little thing to go wrong...

i liked the comment in the video about how hard it is for them to synchronize all of the cameras to start shooting at the same time. imagine the prep for 125 film cameras. With Epic, can u imagine these images @ 120fps 5k! extraordinary, and don't forget redmode, with a range extender synchronization is no longer an issue.

Is the shuttle program over entirely? are there any further plans for space travel?

I think there are 2 more funded maybe in February and the final definite one on April 1 (remember because of the april fool date). Another one is possible in June if it gets funded.

...michael, where's that footage?

"we want foodage!" (chorus)

Well here's the still I promised, I have the footage.

There was a whole thread about it and an .r3d clip was hosted on another site for a while but I think it is gone now.
