  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shut up and shoot that RED (NSFW)

Going to Brno now...

Quite frankly I lost all the respect for everyone in this thread and the images (esp. nsfw ones) are hurting me in so many ways... Before the price drop I used to enjoy a beautiful imagery posted by fellow redusers in Epic & Old Glass thread, but now... now I cant force myself even to open the page, why bother looking at the pictures filmed with such outdated sensor placed in suddenly devalued cheapo video camera? What my mates and colleagues would say if they'd catch me working on R3D footage again in the suite? Better invest in that superior Arri thing, what it's called again...

*just kidding around, please continue*

Gunleik,

What are you doing with all those nakid women...

Naked women? What naked women???

:-)

Seriously, though.

I am working on what I hope will be an exhibition on lust and love and lonelyness and despair and extasy and pain.

Hahahaha

If I can find funds and people to work with.

It seems to be like the stills I do, communicate well with women, too. So quite often I am contacted by girls who wanna work with me.

Has been kinda an evolving process where the goals have become mores evident and clearer as time has gone by.

Has evolved into a "project"

And I get to work with some amzing and very different people to those I usually work with. And sometimes they are even nude. And I do not mind nude women. Or men, for that sake, as I shoot them, too.

Really think they can be beautiful...

This gets my vote for THREAD OF THE YEAR (not started by a Red Employee or owner)

Fantastic Work Gunleik! This is like... how do explain... you are getting instant stills from a motion camera ...how is that possible? ;)

Thanks for posting these - not only is the model pretty but the images at high ISO certainly have a film look to them. If you can be bothered... can you put up a few 1:1 crops from the images that were shot at ISO 4000? How does ISO 6400 look?

P.S. I don't like the last two images due to the overdone grading. Grading should be subtle, IMHO, and should not try to impose too much on the image.

Wow Tim. THX!!!!

@ Karim

Just captured the images and play around a bit with them now... Haven't decided which way to take them yet.

But as to grading, to me (like when I shoot) I do what I think make them work. Or not...
I just play around a bit. Usually takes some time before I settle. But I don't like specific rules as to what is "right".

I know a bit of photography and technicalities and post and teach that some...

When I do stuff on my own, I relate to that knowledge, but very often in a way where I try to "break" the image the way I want.

These pics are not "tests". So, nope. No r3D's, no 1:1. I have given out a lot of testmaterial.
This is work...

But thanks for the comment!!!

...and...

I shoot a lot over and underexposed, because I like the textures it gives me.
I am pretty capable of exposing "right", but what I am working on these days is "Exposing right for the image I want"..

That means...
Of course there is grain in a 4000 ISO tungsten shot.
The laws of physics demands that.

And
So: WTF?

I get the image I want that way (sometimes)

To me it is about controll of the tool. Not "correctness".

All these shots went through RCX + preview only, except for the above, which has had a small encounter in lightroom...

I've been aroused by fully clothed women dressing sexually, so I know it's art when I see an otherwise attractive, naked model and am not aroused, but captivated. Nice thread Gunleik.

Come on Gunleik, just admit you're using the term "art" as a way to get women to unclothe so you can take photos of them! ;-) Love the shots. Will try the same soon! ;-)

Lol!

Afaik i never mentioned the "a" word, and I am not complaining.

But it took me a bit of thinking, being ok with pursuing this.

Now I am...

That is not least due to the girls I am working with.
