  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shut up and shoot that RED (NSFW)

Is that a Standard or Super? My guess is Standard.

Not sure exactly...

Brought different lenses for that shoot. I'd guess this is the 60's DDR medium format Zeiss...

But I also had an 18mm B-speed (not this, as it vignettes), and a 65mm MKII Super...
And a 35mm standard... Could be trhatone

Are you using the Jena Zebras? I'm building a set. They have a very pastelle, super low con look that I find very intriguing. Trying to find the right project for them to exlore their look further...

I didn't know they were called that, but if they look like this: Yes.

Really love them for these kind of images, they are incredibly gentle with skin...

(incredibly unusefull for wide master shots, though...)

Haha. Yeah they are called Zebras. Renowned for their build quality. Kudos for getting them. They are SINGLE COATED (from 60's yes), so they are even more low con than Contax and Standard/Super Speed era coatings (which are MULTI-COATED, from the 70's and on up).

Will give you more of an S-Log flat "look" in-camera that I think is very interesting. Also, they probably flare and handle light in equally gentle interesting ways. Wide open they will be soft (a 2.8 in Medium Format is a 1.4 in 35mm), but stopped down should be fine. Many of these Jena lenses were at least close optically to Hassys, and my Hassys stopped down get surprisingly sharp.

Kudos sir for working with these. Yeah the don't get wider than a 50 f4, so you're fucked on masters. HAHA.

Wow.

For the 1st time someone give me a rational reason for actually like these.
So far they haven't rised anything but spite... :)

The images from them have done rather ok, though.

I'll check them a bit more stopped down.

HAHA. Yeah people see DDR and assume they are bunk. But as they say: one person's trash is another person's treasure!

So....

I am frequently accused of taking "snaps"

This would be one of those...

I kinda like the feel of these, though.

I have a bunch of good arty pics from this shoot, but I have to admit I am really a sucker for this type of relaxedness... :)
