EDIT:

My solution here: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread...tom-CLUTCH-Shoulder-rig!!&p=773766#post773766

I am looking for a replacement Shoulder pad for the RED Clutch system, love it but my shoulder can't adapt to their Shoulder Pad,
however as I said I love it, and don't want to use anything else as a Shoulder system, just want to change the Shoulder Pad.

So my option that I can think of are:

ET's Mantis Shoulder Pad.

ALLSTAR Shoulder Pad.

Again, I am just looking to replace the shoulder pad off the Clutch system.

Example from the Allstar pictured below, I would not need the handles, and handles mount bar, just the Shoulder pad and the Shoulder Dovetail with Arri standard to attach the RED QuickPro release plate.

From the ET Mantis, I would the same only need the shoulder pad with top dovetail mounting plate, no handles, no tubings no handle mount.

As Handles I will use the Clutch system and grips plus other goodies:

Hey Ketch, I'm making something for that. If you can hang tight with the Clutch for a few weeks, I'll have something perfect soon.

Ketch, I have the Allstar and am pretty happy with that. What's cool is you can order just the bits you need. Also looking forward to seeing what Adams got up his sleeve.

Yeah Chris, I was thinking of the Allstar shoulder Pad piece with the Dovetail, or that of ET.

Marco, I see no way of adapting that to the Clutch, need the shoulder Pad were I can have a Dovetail plate to attach the Clutch Handel system and other accesories and the Arri style Quickrelease Pro form RED.

Hi Ketch,
What do you mean with your shoulder can't adapt to their Shoulder Pad? I though the shoulder pad needs to adapt to the shoulder.
I am on the door of buying the clutch, so I do not want to spend 5K and later I will need to search for alternatives to fix it.
Can you elaborate a bit more? Thanks

Ketch,
I was thinking about only the slide in part of the shoulder mount. it should fit the clutch instead of the dovetail....

I have a bullet in my shoulder, and since the shoulder Pad of the Clucth does not rotate and or possibly too small for my big shoulder, I need a different Pad,
but I have head all others and never been really as happy as I have been with the Clutch, just need a different Pad.

Also I found out that do to been missing for ribs, two per side, I can't use the Pads for the front and back support,
so makes having the Clutch as it is useless to me, and need to build one that is customized to my specific need.

Sorry Marco, stil don't get it, Allstar and ET seem like they can just have the long Dovetail to mount the Arri style Quick Pro release system form Red and the Pad,
while that of Action Products I don't see how you can do that.

Thanks Ketch!

I didn't know the pad on the clutch do not rotate. I am a big guy with big shoulders. So, it is something to considerate.

Thanks again.

Hi Ketch, Bullet in the shoulder!? That is hard core rough man!

I'm wondering if the shoulder pad and chest/back support of Clutch don't work for you, why not just use the Mantis as is instead of creating a franken-rig? Is there some problem with the handles portion of Mantis that the Clutch addresses?

Yeahp it is stuck in the back right Scapula, so this has made me a bit miserable with the back Pad, and the shoulder it self is a bit Muscular yet a bone sticks out a bit, so the shoulder Pad of the Clutch it is not working out,
in the front, the supporting Chest Pad hearts my chest were the ribs have been chopped off, so yeah, I am a mess, ha ha.

But again, the combination of the Grips, the add ons, the handle system, and the mounting Quick release Pro, coupled with other bits and pieces of the Clutch, make it the perfect option for me, so I am not giving it up,
just need to get a separate Pad, and in fact just decided to order the ET Pad and dovetail to were I will attach the rest of the Clutch system, well part of it.... ;)

Ha ha, the pads or the girl, Michael, or both???... ;)

Ketch,

I do loads of hand held as a union operator and the big problem I have with most systems is they don't conform to my shoulder well and often under heavy loads like to slide off. Also, certain systems are a real POA when switching from sticks to shoulder.

I've now become a big advocate of the strap on shoulder pad. I believe Abel sells a very high quality one. This is the one I'll be picking up soon: http://www.abelcine.com/store/House-of-Power-Universal-Shoulder-Pad/

Currently I have a shoulder pad from Filmtools. While good for smaller rigs it's not up to the task with larger set ups.

With the strap on, going from sticks to shoulder requires no extra time and there's absolutely no slide off. The strap on is a standard on a lot of hand held episodics. My good friend, Manuel Billter, operator for Law and Order, recommended this to me. They were before they got cancelled putting F35's on their shoulders.

Hi Ketch,

You may want to consider visiting a foam shop -- there are various densities of foam out there, some of which have a fantastic memory dynamic to them. Consider layering together different types of foam (softer on the areas of your chest/back that hurt and denser on the areas of your chest/back that are more able to handle the pressure/weight). Then have a seamstress sew the foam into a sling like the one mentioned above at filmtools -- or into a comfortable but relatively tight fitting shirt that will become your shooting shirt. A fair bit of hassle, but you will probably end up with a more tailored, more functional, more comfortable, higher performing result. Good luck!!

Hello Ketch
You slide the shouldermount part into a arri style bridgeplate (like it is dovetail) - this can be ours our any other one. Our bridge-plate has three slides for mounting the screws to the camera (our in your case the quick release platform. We also offer a shoulder-raiser for it that fits to your shoulder angle. Red handles will of course work. The price is for the bridge-plate AND the shoulder-mount part. The shoulder-mount part it self will be available next week (price around $ 500).

Hi guys, and thanks every one for the suggestions, at this time I ordered the ET Dovetail and Pad piece, and will use it together with the various components form the Clutch,
but, as I will be doing lots and lots of shoulder mount shooting, I will keep close in considerations all other options recommended here,
and this should serve also as a guide to others that should come to need it.

Daryl,

very nice piece of gear you guys made there.
