Should I update old CS6 Premiere project file to CC 2017?

I've got an old project I edited in CS6. It's a really big project. Is it standard practice to update the project file to the latest Premiere 2017 CC version, or continue editing the project in its native version (CS6)? I'd think CC is going to allow for much faster editing than CS6.

Are you referring to the raw footage being erased? That would be a nightmare.

On the Mac side Ive never had this issue and we keep all originals on an Apple XServe.

But to be safe please do backup.

If the project is complete and you only need to make incremental, potential changes, then make a copy of the project so you can always work on it in CS6 since you have a perpetual license with that. If you upgrade it and decide to drop the CC subscription, you would have to re-subscribe to edit it at all. I guess it all depends on what is left to do on it.

Gotcha. I've made a copy of the CS6 project file and have my footage backed up on a server.

Yes, that one.

That seems to be a bug in CC2017.1 (11.1). I would hold off in downloading that version right now.. That is just too scary of a bug. I am running 2017 (11.0.2) Without any issue. When you open a project from an older version, Premiere will ask you to rename the file as a new project for CC2017. You can check it out, make sure everything is looking good, and then procede from there... But yes, there are many advantages over CS6.
