  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Should I Sell my GH4 and buy a Raven?

Might sound weird, but I find tracking (pan-tracking) easier with an EVF too. Especially when you've got a wave taking up the whole frame and you've got a surfer racing down the line, it takes some serious tracking, as I'm sure you know.
No doubt I'd have a ts on there too though

Good to know on the data front. Minimising costs is essential, to be honest I'm not sure if I can make this investment at all at the moment..Might have to wait a few months.

Cheers

You have to light your scenes with a RED Cam.

Not 100% true. With surfing, 99% of the time there's no option to light your scene. Yet, watch a surf video, and 99% of the time, its shot on Red. Bear in mind that these are never big budget productions for needy clients. Usually more about the content than perfect colours/light.

I see what you're saying, but 4k@120fps is more important to me than low-light capabilities. The fs7 is serious but, in my case, the raven blows it out of the water.

Thanks, Olly

Welcome Olly!

Very excited for you, you made a great choice going for a raven. I would look out for a lot of used items in the marketplace here if you need to save on acessories.

hope you enjoy your purchase ! If you can hock the gh4 for a decent amount right before you get the Raven, I say do it, as there will always be other cameras coming out in the sub $1000 price bracket for a little pickup and run thing, but Raven is so powerful.
