  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

should i buy a used scarlet x or wait for the raven?

Considering how much you also would invest in DSMC 2 accessories that you can also apply to bigger new Red cameras you may want to get down the line, I would go with the newer, more future proof investment.
 
I was in a similar situation earlier, it was raven deposit (which would have probably been allocated now since I did it in Sep.) versus used scarlet-x, ended up doing scarlet because I got a good deal and interchangeable lens mounts are a big thing for me as I'm a vintage lens junkie.

It's my personal camera, and my first owned red, after renting them for years, and I'm mostly gonna be using it for spontaneous projects and as B cam on bigger shoots, so it doesn't have to be the latest and greatest.

MX sensor still looks good to me and many amazing films were shot on it. I'll rent dragon/weapon when I need it.

I would go dragon sensor. Consider the scarlet dragon if you want to go that route. But (as a recent epic owner lusting after the DSMC2) I would consider that most of the accessories you buy for your camera are obsolete.
 
Yes, cheap indeed. It's been a joy picking up bargains on the marketplace and ebay since everyone else is all caught up in the DSMC2 rat race. Feels like a freeway with no traffic, have it all to myself.

Not sure what "obsolete" means when most of the competition STILL can't even shoot 4K RAW internally. Even the R1MX is still somewhat current when it comes to features.
 
but does anybody know when the raven will be in online stores like cvp.com, will they have it out before december. also i have noticed that the raven has recently incresed in price, does this mean that it will continue to increase?
