What is everyone using to mount a shotgun mic to their Scarlet? I have a Sennheiser ME66 and I would like to have the option of mounting it to my Scarlet if need be.

In a bit of symmetry I adapted the shotgun mount from my old Panasonic HVX on to the sliding handle of my Scarlet:

That is freakin awesomely nice! That is the cleanest looking mic mount setup I have ever seen. This should be seen by the aftermarket accessory makers and make that happen! I would buy that in a second.

What I did was simple, just drill out ONE hole in the base of the HVX-200's mount, it won't allow for two bolts due to the spacing but one bolt will hold things on if you tighten it down...like a man! :P

Then I just cut a screw down with a hacksaw and finished it up on a grinding wheel.

Puts it just over the mattebox, plus it looks damn near factory:

Very nice Isaac! It puts the shotgun mic in a very ideal position.

If you check the Nato Rail torch mounts they fit short gun mic's well and fit on top of an Epic perfectly well. They are not expensive and much better use than originally intended.

My only point is putting a mic on a camera is the last place it should ever be mounted.

Here's a few ideas.

If you check out all of these accessories for nato rail Im astounded its about a tenth of the price for fire arms accesory than it would be for attaching to a camera.

I don't plan on putting the mic on a camera if I don't have to, just in case the situation calls for it. I have a boom pole and shock mount for most situation. I just want to be flexible.

Bingo. I'm almost always running things on a boom pole, but for certain situations that's just not possible. This is as low profile a mount as I could come up with that doesn't block the handle when using it without a mic.

One more tool for the tool box.

Yep, good move. Id still check out the nato rail stuff. Its actualy useful for making things like stereo mic mounts, mounting all manner of small cameras and of board kit. You can buy a bucket load of the stuff for peanuts, assuming that is its not from from a photographic dealer.

Im using the strong arm from small hd which is pretty much a noga arm with the rode shockmount posted earlier in this thread. Works great. I want to ad a hotshoe thoe to take on and of the arm faster.

I've been both a DP and a Mixer and I don't think I could ever fly a boom and operate a camera at the same time. You must be Superman! Would it not be better to just have the boom operator do it, though?

Crazy! What is it for? That is, how often does the talent stand two feet from the camera and not move?

And would the Production Mixer be also operating a camera? What does the production do with the "ambient" sound? That is, would they not choose the real tracks recorded by the mixer?

Typically it's for capturing ambient, again even in this config I'd still be most likely using a LAV mic or a boom, it's just another tool for the toolkit.

LOL. If I am using my boom pole I do have a boom operator though. That's why I was asking about a mount for my camera so when I do not have a boom operator.
