Hey everybody hope your projects are going well this is just kind of a cool tidbit story I had some old but savory contax laying around, sold it and bought a nice little scarlet MX brain from RU gear lord mestivio D for chump change (thanks man! L) and shot this little joint right here

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=naZ4aLtkUtQ

Feel free to butcher it in critique but I guess the point is is that it’s all right there for anybody who wants it with just basically gear you can find just lying around and can make images out of still very good old RED equipment

for just a weirdo little thrillers the MX still shines-I just wanted to thank all you brothers and sisters and you know who you are for just swapping stories trading money move in gear around and making images continue on

Respect RU peeps!

Chilly

Haha! Looks fun! I like it! I watched the trailer on my phone and had to restart it from 360p to 1080p and the first shot of the husband and wife still looked a little soft? Could be a compression thing but really I didn’t see much quality difference between this and anything shot with newer cameras, good job! My brother and I just shot our first feature on a RED One MX this past summer and we’re getting close to a first cut so I might post a grab or two once we get closer to a final cut after our upcoming reshoots. It’s good to see that MX cameras keep on kicking! :)

Zack thanks one thing I’ve learned and I learned it the hard way on my first joint where the editor baked prores into my pretty good looking black magic 2.5 raw and so I lost like two stops or three stops out of the gate and it fried my head eg https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_S-c6j6vzCM so I guess my point is that this budget level you know when it leaves your hands and goes to an editor and possible a handoff and it’s lost in translation how to handle RED and basically raw files (Even when I send a 10 point technical brief that you know people don’t read it how shit happens) I noticed it, but like the one shot of old boy coming into frame saying “I hope it fits your liking” was just a contax mmg on a vintage mx

I have a 2011 Scarlet MX that I often pair with my forged Helium 8K. People keep telling me to get something else in the DSMC2 family to keep up with my forged, but you know what? That little Scarlet still shoots compressed RAW .r3d and with IPP2 kicks ass. Good work Chuck.

Thx Scotty a RU legend

I truly believe some clever 13-year-old girl and her grandfather are going to re-house some ol Panchero’s and get gifted one of these little old scarlets and go beyond true imagination.

Right on Jim these fuckers are gonna last 50 years

Hello Hardin

Cinivate Duzi
Cinemover on a 30’
Ronin ( I will share on tidbit, I’m a skydiver etc and used a harness with a custom made clasp on the back and had a trusted AC loop a fat bike tire on the back and pull me thru the woods as I ran backwards with the ronin to get the axe shots

Worth it

Viva la indie!

thanks, im looking at a dana dolly or myt slider system if someone has one for sale but good to know what people are using and getting amazing results!

Thanks man, that’s generous; if we had more time we could really buff out some shots

Little encouragement/ we shot the whole joint in 19 days@11pg/day if you can believe that.

All done megaULB

It’s all possible and a big shout to vintage SMX
