we have shot in 4K 30 frames timebase 23.98. in FCP all is now slow motion. I thought if we shoot timebase 23.98 and edit in the same all speeds should work out. Anybody a solution for this?

Thanks

You did shoot slow motion. You asked the RED to shoot 30 frames per second in a 23.98 time base. If you did that with a film camera you would be shooting slow motion.

This is exactly what you did with the RED. Treat it like a film camera.

The native frame rate for 23.98 is 24fps. You would have notice this right away if you had been recording sound.

This is also pretty hard to do because you actually have to change this is the variable framerate menu which should have been a dead give away.

ok - how do I fix it. Can I do a reverse pull down?
I wanted a slight slow motion - just in this one shot I need it to be real time - the rest is ok as is. FCP seam to not have many tools for within the timeline to do a pulldown. Any recommendation?

Yes I would do a pulldown and just remove every fifth frame.

Are you doing it in FCP. If so, you can use a Nattress film effect to accomplish this.
