Since the Fixed Scarlet is going to have an electronic "fly by wire" lens, I assume it is going to have "shot box" functionality. This is a very useful feature for people working in EFP or TV situations, where being able to go to a specific two-shot, or a close-up, or wide, (without the director needing to talk in the cameraman's ear "closer, wider, bit wider, there"). It would also be very useful for reporters working on their own, as they would be able to have the LCD and Redmote in their lap, and just hit user assignable buttons to change shots so the footage can be edited more easily.

I assume Fixed Scarlet will come with these feature out of the box, if not could we have a module for it, and could we have a module with this functionality for use with fujinon or canon lenses on 2/3 cine?

Bit of a late feature request, but this could be done in a module for few hundred dollars, and is so useful companies like fujinon charge tens of thousands of dollars for something so simple.

It would be another amazing feature on such an affordable camera. That is normally a £20k feature.

Wasn't there something about a touch screen that lets you select the autofocus region and pull between them?

yeah Jannard thought of that one and its apparently going to become a feature at some point...dunno when...

Probably as a feature with some upcoming touchscreens and the redmode, which will obviously both work with the fixed 8x Scarlet, but won't be included in the 3750$ kit.

I'm sure you'll be able to preset zoom and focus positions and transition between them smoothly too.

;) Seen that on less than $500 camera (Sanyo HD2 I think). It is basically something that can be implemented in a software upgrade. Many non hardware differences between $100 cameras and $100,000 cameras are software features that are relatively completely cheap enough to implement in a $100 camera (except you have to license some).

Can't wait till IBC

Sony prosumer cameras have shot transition. It goes from state A to B (considering focal length, focus distance, shutter, white balance, pretty much every camera config) within the determined time frame.

On the Sony Z7 you can set two focus marking points that you can navigate back and forth using the focus ring. RED could go further and provide us a digital FF with several marking points.

Considering RED is making a camera with a lens with remote control capabilities... I'd assume that and MUCH more are pretty much a given.

That is an excellent idea.
