Hey guys, wanted to share my latest work with the lovely Scarlet-W. Loved hearing your feedback last time. Not much more to say this time about the camera, still in love with it. Hope you enjoy!
Lenses: Cooke S4i panchros
5K WS, 4K WS - 23.976-150p
Note: Added less grain this time and used some black pro mist to soften as I found the cookes too sharp for this

Edited and graded in Davinci Resolve 12

Nicely shot short. I particularly like the sequence in the grass starting at :58. What were you using to do the tracking shots?

Thanks! The whole thing was shot on movi plus easyrig/serene arm. I originally planned to move to slider but we just didn't have the time to go on and off the gimbal as we only had the day to shoot

Love the colors. Can't beat that Cooke look
Yeah I'm madly in love with Cooke's, problem is other lenses look too flat once you use them a lot haha

Awesome job! Were you using a steadicam for some of those shots? or a gimbal? Everything about the images was fantastic. I haven't had a chance to use the Cookes, really want to.

Also, I'd like to thank you for uploading the film at it's native resolution. I was able to watch it with the image completely filling my LG ultra wide, about a 2.35:1 ratio monitor. Looked fantastic!

Thanks a lot Chris! Looks like you are getting one yourself? :)

Yea..sold my Epic MX a while back...have all the accessories for my DSMC 2 Scarlet-W...just need the stinking brain now! haha Thankfully RED has been courteous enough to loan me a Scarlet-Dragon..but have to return that in less than 30 days. Fingers crossed!

Keep knocking it out of the park though with your content man...stuff looks great!

Thanks Josh! Appreciate the kind words. This was shot fully on gimbal, I can get steadicam like shots using a serene arm as it helps with the wobble when dollying in. Here are some BTS shots if you want to check it out: dropbox.com/sh/9zk74k5c6r7htlj/AADTzPTZEymu53hV5fedZi7Fa?dl=0
The Cooke's are fantastic, really good color rendition but mostly for the way they process depth, makes things look 3D. Shane made a really nice video comparing Leica lux to Cooke s4's, though the S4 mini's are a little different but still similar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5febma4_OE

I also have the ultra wide monitor, love keeping it at that ratio for that very reason :)

Btw Josh, hows your S-W queue looking?!

Your legendary Epic MX was something I dreamed of having a while back! Scarlet-W is definitely a big upgrade though the 16.5 DR is seriously insane, I have so much fun in post. I hope you get your S-W soon!!
Thanks a lot Chris, really means a lot coming from one of my favorite DP's I looked up to

Haha...well thanks for those kind words sir. I'm a small fish in a big pond of so many talented DP's/Cinematographers...I love what I do...best job in the world.

Very nice Jason, looks quality all the way around. Did you transcode in Redcine-X with A.D.D. or just work souley with debayer in Resolve?
Thanks Brody, sorry for the late response. It was just debayer through Resolve, never tried A.D.D, I didn't think that was practical for motion. I wonder if it's worth doing though, I guess something to test out

No worries. Must have a Red Rocket-X, fast computer, etc. and a lot of time to available to wait. But I do see about a 15% increase in quality over standard full Debayer in Redcine. But certainly not practical for most scenarios.

Wow that's crazy, 15%? I don't have a Red rocket but I think I can still try it. My system was top of the line not so long ago, I'll check it out to see if its worth doing. Thanks Brody!
