Curious about the giant screen.

What is the IMAX Corp. currently shooting with if not using one of their film cameras? I know they are still doing some stuff in film, but what is next for them?

Can a RED EPIC in 5K be used for a giant screen production? I assume it blows up well.

Hey Gregory,

The go to camera for IMAX productions seems to be the Phantom 65 which has recently be discontinued. They actually have "released" their own 3D camera with IMAX branding that is based off off the Phantom 65. To answer your question though, I have had my hand in a couple of projects that were shot on Epic in 5K that were then projected onto traditional IMAX screens. The footage looks incredible. Sure, its no Dark Knight but does look good.

at NAB this year - RED took one of their Dragon shot promos (a short shot at REDStudios) and did a transfer to IMAX 70mm film and projected in the RED Booth on a IMAX Projector - looked Wonderful. I'm sure others can comment on this and the process much better than I can.
