  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shooting with Epic and Scarlet this weekend

Are you shooting Epic at 4k?

That'd be what I'd want to see. Epic & Scarlet with similar settings shooting the same subject, to see how they intercut.
 
Alright, identical shot/settings. Going in we know they should look identical, but it's a valid test.

To throw a wrench in things, we're still looking forward to receiving our Canon mount for Epic. For now it'll be Zeiss CP.2 on Epic and Canon EF on the Scarlet. Not the ultimate scientific test of the decade I'm afraid.

But we may gain some insight as to other things.

Here's our schedule,
-Epic at 4k, Scarlet at 4k
-Epic at 5k, Scarlet at 4k
-Epic 3k HDR, Scarlet 3k HDR
-Low light test of some kind

Cheers for taking the time. Agree with above, hasnt physically been undertaken before, even with lens variances well worth seeing.

I know its a big ask, but would be great if there was a lit scene component.
 
Would like to see some night shooting, like I suggested to Phil. Maybe add a human component to it like Philip Bloom's videos or Vincent Laforet? Would also like to see High speed shots from the Epic at maximum-300fps 2K. Thanks for the effort and for sharing with us!

EDIT- One important test we still haven't seen is how the image looks out straight of an HD-SDI recorder like the PIX240 or the Atomos Samurai. I think testing this would be something many would love to see!

if youd like a second Canon mount to test on before yours gets here you could wait til my Scarlet gets here and take the AL mount off yours and put it on your Epic and put them side by side! :) I doubt you want to wait just an idea as I don't remember when you said your TI mount was shipping.

haven't kitted out the Scarlet yet, but here's a snap of a faceoff

30 minutes later it was snowing up a storm. 2-3 inches in an hour. So we had to bail on the BMX stuff. Lots of other informative info though. I'll do my best to build an informative hybrid BTS/Blog/comparison piece.
