Does anyone know if shooting at 1K (120fps) on Scarlet will result in cropped sensor? If so... what would the factor be?

Thanks for any help.

Yes - cropped, not down-rezzed. Crop factor as compared to...? I believe if will be be a factor of about 4 as compared to 4K rez.

John, I'm not sure if it has been able. I'm still on the original firmware I got with the camera. Will update when the new version comes out in a week or two.

There has been some discussion on other threads and outside the forum regarding the 2k 60fps being significantly softer with more noise than the 4K image. I don't know why this would be...it shouldn't be actually, but at least three separate tests seem to point to this. I hope that ultimately this is not true as it would most likely point to 1K being more than just cropped.

Well, you would expect it to have a similar amount of noise and sharpness as a 100% crop from 4K. But you would expect that 4K scaled down would look a lot better, because oversampling always reduces noise and can make the images look sharper.

I have heard that the RED ONE was somewhat noiser than a crop at 2K though, so if Scarlet and Epic are too then it's probably some kind of codec issue.
