Hey guys,

Were shooting lighting and getting bad banding. Has anyone had this happen or have any knowledge why its happening?

Shot on dragon at realtime 29.97 and 96fps slow motion at 180 shutter.

Thanks

The "half frame" with flashes (blitz/lightening/police-cars) is a symptom on any camera without a global shutter.
It's not RED/Dragon specific.

Thanks for the info. Would a slower shutter help at all?

I assume the motion mount would fix this?

Motion mount is supposed to fix it.

A slower shutter won't fix it, as the problem is that the "flash" is so short that it just get read in one part of the exposure

i can confirm i had the same problem on MX without motion mount...without global shutter it happens..

I do a lot of nature stuff, I was thinking of getting a Blackmagic 4k cam, with global shutter just for this reason, anybody every try one?

Are you shooting that much lightning to choose your camera because of it? If the motion mount takes care of this issue, I would slap one of those on during the rare times that I would be shooting lightning.
