I'm moving to Portland and it drizzles a lot there. I'm going to want to shoot in the drizzle, and I know there will be situations where I'll want to shoot in a downpour too. How does one go about this while protecting the camera/mics/etc, and also, how does one avoid fungus/condensation going in and out of wet conditions like that?

Though I haven't used it yet, this Element Technica rain cover seems well made and the price is certainly right: http://www.elementtechnica.com/products/view.php?p=105
Hope somebody who used it chimes in, I'm about to order it for shooting in dust/rain.

I spent a year in Portland shooting a documentary, I absolutely love it up there.
It's hands down my favorite US city. You'll have plenty of hot and sunny days, starting abouts now ..... have fun!

Hey David, we use the ET rain cover as Milan suggested and it works wonders. We also use a lot of butterflies and tarps... then its about battling the "Sound of rain" but you will find Portland very clean and mudfree for how much it rains. its weird.

Absolutely no worries about fungus or condensation unless you store your camera outside :) SIlica Packs are also key for any storage as they absorb moisture.

Give us a shout when you get to town and come take a tour, we have a lot to offer indie filmmakers!

cheers!
