Shooting in Bali

I'm headed to Bali, Indonesia for a shoot in the coming months. Any advice or words from the wise?

You might already have housing lined up, but if not:
-Try to pick out your spots to stay on airbnb - read the reviews before selecting.
-If no airbnb check out home stays
-Avoid hotels if possible, they charge to much (relatively) and can be pretty nasty. (filled with bugs and insects) Home stays seemed to have much better upkeep.

My favorite spots were Ubud, Gili Islands (I like the smaller ones better), Balian (cool place to stay there called Balian breeze owned by a Australian)

If you go to Balian hike out to the beach to the right of the surf beach, its amazingly beautiful, the sand looks like molasses as it recedes with the waves. Hence we deemed it molasses beach

We hiked Mount Agung, it was a really cool hike, but extremely intensive, especially with camera gear. Apparently they don't believe in switchbacks in Bali Hire a sherpa to carry your gear if you hike any of the volcanos, will have a much more happy time, especially on the way down.

Customs can get strict.. I couldn't get gear though once, so unless you have a work visa and shooting permits pack light, and don't write filmmaker in your customs forms!

I have a be a good fixer if you want one.. Around $150 a day. He can drive you to all the good spots.

Traffic is a bitch

it can be way too hot to even considering filming throughout Daytime

Go visit Kintamani and Trunyan

watch out out for pollution, Bali has turned into a sess pool
