  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shooting a 6 Second Film

I was thinking 6 seconds is impossible but you pulled it off.. I found it funny at first but then realised it was sad... My version would of been a guy removing his sticker then shooting himself in the head :)

Firstly, it's impossible to tell a story in 6 seconds. Can't be done. Secondly, somehow you managed it. Wow, kudos! Such a good idea.

It did somehow feel comical, even though the story is sad. I can't put my finger on what it is, maybe the camera movement was too fast or the saturation being too vibrant. But really, great job!

Richard, both thanks for the kind words, and then... find it hard to believe, I guess.

Our (very short) script was written by Stephen Deaver. He came up with the idea when stuck in traffic behind one of those vans.

We've also learned in the few days since making this that apparently they make little angel stickers that people stick on their car to represent kids that have died, which is also very sad.

I hadn't seen that David, thanks for the heads up.

Nice. I like it. Reminds me of the Hemingway 6-word short story. "For Sale. Baby Shoes. Never Worn"

Well it is quite a coincidence isn't it? Anyways, as I said, if you came up with the idea independently, then props for sure.

Congrats on this being accepted as a finalist!

David Bartholomew posted about it on Facebook. Sorry if it came off as creepy.

I'm very impressed with the preparation! I liked your film, and I think one of the critiques was off the mark and the person was thinking too much. I did not like the filtration - I think you used a bit too much. I understand why you chose the filtration level, but I still didn't like it. IMHO. /-)

Does anyone else here use Vine? That's the first thing I thought of when I read the thread title. :-) It's like Twitter but with 6 second looping videos. I love it - in fact when I see something I want to film I use Vine and rarely use the iPhone's HD camera.

I agree, similar! But I love the film. Very effective story-telling. I had to watch it 2 times to feel it emotionally though. But once again. Great job and congrats on being a finalist :)
