  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Shoot35 MB and FF?

Hi Rob,

I'd agree with you that there's nothing too micro about our microMatteBox system haha, but it really fills a gap in the market for anyone who wants a good value 4x5.65 swing away professional matte box. I should note that it's the same size of other matte boxes with similar functions, however at a fraction of the cost, and even the weight. It's all those functions everyone loves that just adds more size! There is a lot of appeal in smaller sized matte boxes, but again you'll always be giving up features when moving to a more compact design. I know plenty of people who handhold our microMatteBox, but at about 2 3/4 lbs, it depends.

Loren, thanks for your candid response - very refreshing! It really should be called the Red Rock "Gigantor" or "Jupiter" or something similar to capture its heft and substance. The other thing I really liked about the Red Rock matte box was that it was able to accommodate lens travel forward when you are using still lenses - that is not really a problem that has been addressed by a lot of matte fox manufacturers. I dont think the O'Connor can do that for example. For me, a lightweight rig which is low profile is just essential so I sadly had to part with my Red Rock matte box.

Well this is odd, I went to order the Shoot35 mattebox and I'm all set to check out, but as I put in my address I see the state drop-down has just about every state...except Florida.

Oops. Looks like I'll be waiting a little while longer.

I have a specific question. All my lenses have 80mm fronts from Duclos Lenses. Will these attach properly to the bellows set up on the Shoot35? They cant be attached via the magnets which seem to come with the Shoot35 attachment to the bellows.
