I just heard that Scarelt is shipping by Christmas if you haven't already heard. I'm living in Korea and the reality of getting the camera to me as safely as possible is suddenly an issue. I do have a family member who may be able to bring it over around christmas but she's only 16 and I don't know if anyone will believe its hers.

My issue is ultimately one that will affect many. ie how to get the camera here being out of America. I heard there was a japanese supplier at one point. I want to avoid import duties which knowing Korea will be steep on a camera but maybe I will have to bite the bullet.

Would like to know peoples experience and advice and also how easy its going to be for me if I need to send it for service etc.

Let's get some Scarlet FOOTAGE =)

They already did? Did you miss the memo?

I'm wondering about such things too, but what makes you think that it can be picked up in America? The Red One couldn't be picked up, it could only be sent to you; I haven't heard about any changes in that respect. In my case I'm wondering whether Epic x will be sent from America, or from Red UK, or if it can be picked up either in America or the UK

I think it should be sent. Honestly, I prefer this way. It comes from Fedex, it is safe (some expenses in shipping but, that's life). I also live in asia, but have been so disappointed with sub par distributors that I'd ratter deal with the main office myself. Any problems, just send it back to Red. Expensive, but I believe Red's QC is very good. Hardly see any complains here with manufacturing problems.

Actually, there are sometimes problems with Fedex. I've had a lens delivered to someone living several houses down the road, someone I didn't know and who fortunately was honest enough to bring the thing to me. Also, I fly to the US regularly, so it might be safer for me, as well as much cheaper, to go and pick it up. In my case, it's not just receiving the epic x, but also delivering my Red One. On top of that, I don't know what import duties I would have to pay; over the 28.000 dollars that an epic x costs, or the 10.500 dollar price difference with the Red One? This could become really expensive. So, interesting questions on how to get your scarlet or epic

I wouldn't get someone to pick it up, but get it sent to their address. Would RED not send the camera to any address you requested?

I'm happy to have the camera shipping to Korea, its the import duties that could be massive here. Korea has recently signed A free trade agreement so I don't know howthat affects things. What I want to do is not pay 1-2000 dollars otherwise I may as well take a trip to the states to pick it up.

Does the UK have a distribution base? Cause i'm from the UK so could more easily get there. It would be good to know more about how RED distributes its products. Maybe some changes will come with the Scarlet due to its mass appeal. I trust all will be answered soon though.

Would like to know how this will work all the way to South Africa as well. Have ordered from the US before but this is in a different ballpark than any of my previous items. YUM. Shopping and import duties easily add 20% on top. Will it at least be insured for the trip?
