doesnt matter if you order for 20000 or 30 000usd, but lenses cost extra asfaik

That's about right. I think mine came to USD$550 and came in two large boxes to Sydney.

Duty and GST weren't bad, particularly since GST is refunded if you have an ABN.

$US598.49 in July 2008 for 3 boxes to Perth - third box was RED branded Pelican Case. RED will advise you of shipping costs in final payment request.
Process is painless - RED and Fedex take care of everything. Shortly after arrival in Australia Fedex will request money to cover GST, AQIS Inspection, preparation of Import Declaration and (if necessary) Duty - you pay money - Fedex delivers to your door and good times begin.
Only duty ever charged on RED products and associated accessories has been $3.72 on a T Shirt.
As Jim said GST is refundable if you have an ABN
