Hi guys in some of my shoots (red log film) faces looks like are not very sharp in focus(but they are in focus!), if I want to record only pro res, do I need to slide the sharpness slider up a bit? Any advice? Thanks

I'd run the sharpness at 8-10 in the looks tab in camera

do you get same results shooting star chart or something like that? And what f stop / exposure?

Yes I have set to 10 too but still I cant see to much difference, maybe for the redlog film? To flat to notice maybe? F/stop it normally goes from 2.8 to 4 depends from the lens I use.

yeah switch over to that gamma 4 or whatever the standard look is, huge difference

Thanks guys. Yes if I record raw abd prores I will use redgamma4 but if only I need the flat image backed in prores (for quick editing) I have to shot redlogfilm otherwise the color will be backed in... I use the focus assitance in the display option, it helps a little, but I suppose I wilp need to invest in the 7inch monitor in the future...lol...

You can record log to prores while you view redgamma 4 on the LCD.

Luca, in general OLPFs used in REDs are quite aggressive (thankfully!) so you basically never see artifacts but resolution is nothing like on Blackmagic cameras (which are without OLPF...)

It's in the look section, it's a bit confusing how it's all laid out, you should hook up a LCD and a SDI monitor and play around w the settings. check the files on a computer to see what the cam actually recorded. For example, you can record log but have the outputs all be in redgamma, so on playback you will see redgamma but your file will come up log. You can do pretty much any combo of anything so you need to be sure you fully understand what can/is happening before going into production.
Pro tip: if you go into playback mode, you can change the monitor path settings just in playback also independent of your other settings, so it's actually a very complex system most people haven't taken the time to fully figure out.

what lens are you using? And I would try shooting star chart - sometimes in low contrast lighting I will put star chart where actor's eyes will be (target of focus in portrait) and can get noticeably better focus
